Default Change Snowball Arena to be Like TA

It seems to me that there are 2 types of people who play this game; the ones who actually want gamer points and know how to play, and the other 80% of people who just want to kill shit/get balth faction who tend to screw up the game for everybody else. While I enjoy the fact that ANet has made us a mini-game that is fairly enjoyable when you have a decent team, it seems impossible to actually have fun if you're always thrown into a random group with people who invariably spend the game spamming snowballs and ignoring the presents. So in the interest of keeping this game fun (and simultaneously allowing those who really want gamer points a better chance of getting them), I believe that you should actually be able to choose your 4 man team in the arena like in TA. People who still want to kill shit can form random PUGs in 2 seconds and get their rep while those who want the gamer points can make their teams, get on vent, etc... Plus people wouldn't have to whine about syncing anymore. Anybody else feel the same way about this?

I myself am good at snowball and hate getting stuck with a noob team and I think it would be kind of cool, but if it was like that, it would be a place for leet people, and all the noobs wouldn't have "fun".This would also bring CC farmers, and it would just become HA...Snowball isnt around that long anyway, so Id just pass on this.

Eh, well if these noobs just want to kill stuff/get balth faction then they don't have to win to have the kind of "fun" then want

hah its not designed to be any spectacularly outstanding opportunity for gamer points...they aren't designing these for your titles and ranks they are simply adding a little variation to the normal GW life, just something different, if ur so focused on ur points and titles, ur a tool but thats ok we all got our own thing...not worth making a big deal out of it at all like has been already said its only around for a short time,,,zomg noob team...haha sorry sorry

Regardless of gamer points I dont want to play with scrubs, sorry I'm a 1337 king and I deserve to play with people who can read and comprehend the start message.

I disagree. While it bites that you have to go through several noob teams, once you get a good team with another 3 (or 2, you can generally pull some dead weight), good players, you start to steamroll teams. In snowball arena, I either lose (on a bad team), win one game (both teams are bad and I win a couple by luck), or win 15+ in a row (win until we face another good team).

If you created a TA-like area, it would actually be MORE difficult to get gamer points since you'd be unable to beat up on all those scrub teams. Only way to make it fair would be to award like... double gamer points for wins in the TA version, of course that would make the RA version nearly dead and eliminate the point (as all the "noob" players would still come to TA).

Basically, all this suggestion will do is slow down how long it takes to start a match for you'll have to find a team. Oh, and allow you to play with guildies, which would be fun.

the balth faction is a much better reward than 3 CC shards and any points.

I think it's meant to be a fun, jump in any time kinda thing...
Yep.. you get bad teams.. but then again you can get great teams... and then you get great runs till you come up against another great team, but the have the power to make snowmen fall on your head.. and they win...

Anyhow, you get 10.. yep TEN gamer points per win... = just fine

I guess you could argue for two arenas.. the current 'RA' style and a 'TA' style.. but.. Meh.. grab some cheese, finish your whine and get back to having fun.. remember.. if you have a good chance of being teamed with 'noobs'.. so do your opponents..

This is why I hate snowball and dragon arena. People say play for fun, but losing because of a bunch of retards don't understand killing doesn't get you anything and you have to run the presents isn't fun. Let people make premade teams and let people that just want to go in also have a random button.

Joking, right?

@OP: If you want a selected 4-man team, contact me this winter about syncing with the proz. Of course, we'll all be expecting to see you pull some good moves in Costume Brawling any any other games that show up in the time between now and then, mainly in Dragon Arena.

Otherwise, you're on your own. The only thing I'd want Snowball to be more like TA/RA is that people are grouped together by the district they leave from, although with the way we do it, that really would make our syncing absolutely imba for the arena.

On a slightly less-related matter, I'll probably consider bumping my almost year-old thread on giving max faction raises to people with Gamer ranks.

SNOWBALL ARENA IS SUCH SRS BSNS!!!!!

It's not that big of a deal, it's not like it takes skill or anything. Yeah, it's easily the worst Festival "PvP" Arena, I'd rather Dragon Arena or Costume Brawl any day of the week and twice on Sunday, but still, it doesn't really matter.

I've never understood why nobody I speak with likes it. I can't even understand why they like Dragon Arena more. As far as being the "worst" Festival PvP Arena, I could only think of it being because of upgrades/runes/etc still working, or the debate of Avalanche vs. Piss Ball.

Ugh I know the feeling. In snowball arena and RA, I swear I always get stuck with the noob team that doesn't get the focus of the game. How hard is it to listen and go after the presents, protecting the teammates that are carrying them? And don't get me started on RA. You could be pinging the monk until your keyboard blows up and they still won't go after it. Now RA I understand is supposed to be random but I see no reason why you can't form an actual team in snowball arenas. Even alliance battles aren't random and how many people actually stay with their groups? So I see no problem with this.

Because it's like the Dragon Arena, but with more overall health (which eliminates the Dodgeball aspect, which is half the fun of Dragon Arena) and an objective only about 5% of people really care about.

I don't see much point in doing this, as it is hardly around. I will sign for this idea: Make a second "snowball arena" and a second "Dragon arena." One will be set up like RA, how it is now, and the other will be like TA.

With that, I can't think about any arguments against, even the "better things to do" and "working on GW2" is thrown about by: 1. There are now split teams for GW1 and GW2 and 2. There is plenty of time to get to work on making a new NPC (or option) to take to a different area that could look the exact same, and add in a few new servers for new games, along with changing the team panel in the area.

it's a festival game.
it's not meant to have organised teams therefor.
yes, it can be annoying to have terrible teams. if you win, leave and re- enter.
if you lose, same.
after a few times, you get a team with half a brain.
or synch enter, and you have your semi-organised team.

Most people who enter the snowball arena fall into one of 2 catergories: Players who want to win and know what they're doing or players who want to win but haven't quite figured out how to win yet. But, IMHO, if you're not playing to have FUN, regardless of the kind of people you're partied with, you need to check your priorities.

Quoted because this = thread win.

But honestly why? Syncing in isn't hard and as already stated its a festival game no point in balancing it. It is only here and then gone for a short time.

Also dragon arena is so much better. I can just kill people and not get yelled at because whoevers team kills the most wins.
